LiDAR Drone Survey for Ropeway project at Wayanad, Kerala

LiDAR Drone Survey Kerala

Detailed Project Scope: Survey and Mapping Services

This project involves conducting a comprehensive drone- and LiDAR-based topographic survey aimed at producing highly accurate maps and datasets. These outputs will support infrastructure planning, engineering design, and land development by providing precise information about the ground surface, terrain variations, and existing site features.

Survey Scope & Requirements

  1. 0.5 m Interval Contour Mapping
    • Contour lines will be generated at every 0.5 m elevation difference.
    • This allows for a very detailed representation of slopes, ridges, valleys, and other landforms.
    • Useful for engineering design, hydrological studies, and site grading plans.
  2. 5 m Interval Grid Level Mapping
    • The survey will generate elevation points in a 5 m x 5 m grid format.
    • Provides a structured dataset for volume calculations, land leveling, and project layout planning.
  3. Detailed Capture of Existing Features
    • Mapping of permanent and temporary structures such as
      • Roads, culverts, and bridges
      • Natural features like streams, nalhas, and terrain variations
      • Utilities and overhead High-Tension (HT) power lines
    • Ensures that all visible site conditions are documented for planning and risk assessment.
  4. LiDAR Data Acquisition
    • LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) survey with a minimum point density of 10 points per sq. m.
    • Provides extremely accurate elevation data, even in areas with vegetation or complex terrain.
  5. Digital Elevation Model (DEM) Creation
    • Bare Earth filtering will be applied to LiDAR data to remove vegetation, trees, and buildings.
    • This results in a clean surface model, showing only the true ground level.
    • DEMs are critical for flood modeling, drainage planning, and infrastructure design.
  6. Drone Camera Survey / Ortho-mosaic Imagery
    • High-resolution aerial images captured by drones.
    • Ortho-mosaic maps with less than 5 cm Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) will be produced.
    • These maps provide real-world, accurate visual representations of the site for monitoring and documentation.
  7. Inclusion of Tools, Equipment, and Skilled Manpower
    • All required survey equipment (drones, LiDAR sensors, and GPS systems) and experienced professionals will be deployed.
    • Work will be executed as per the instructions and technical guidance of the Engineer-in-Charge.

Expected Deliverables

Upon completion of the survey, the following deliverables will be provided to the client:

  1. High-Resolution Ortho-mosaic Imagery
    • Aerial photo maps stitched together with high accuracy.
    • Provides a clear and up-to-date visualization of the site.
  2. Digital Elevation Model (DEM)
    • Processed surface model representing the actual ground terrain.
    • Helps in slope analysis, hydrology, and construction design.
  3. Classified Point Cloud
    • LiDAR data points are classified into categories such as ground, vegetation, and structures.
    • Essential for 3D modeling, volume calculations, and vegetation studies.
  4. 5 x 5 m Grid Level Data
    • Tabulated elevation data at regular intervals for engineering use.
    • Simplifies earthwork planning, design, and cut-fill analysis.
  5. 0.5 m Contour Maps
    • Highly detailed contour plans for planning, design, and visualization.
    • Ideal for civil works, drainage layout, and slope stabilization studies.
  6. L-section Profiles
    • Longitudinal elevation profiles along selected alignments such as roads, pipelines, or canals.
    • Useful for route planning and construction design.
  7. Ground and Tree Top Level Data
    • Provides both the bare-earth elevation and tree canopy height.
    • Helpful in environmental studies, forestry management, and line-of-sight analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Green architecture, also known as sustainable architecture, focuses on designing buildings that minimize environmental impact by conserving energy, water, and natural resources while improving the health and comfort of occupants.

It helps reduce carbon footprint, saves energy and water, promotes better air quality, reduces operational costs, and supports a healthier environment for current and future generations.

Homeowners enjoy lower energy and water bills, better indoor air quality, enhanced property value, and a healthier living environment.

Green roofs provide insulation, reduce urban heat islands, absorb rainwater, enhance biodiversity, and improve air quality.
